The Power of a Priest

Priest TopContainment Priest was unleashed on the world in the 2014 Commander set, Forged in Stone. I find that the more I play with this card the better and better it gets. Not only does it shut down some of the most powerful cards in Commander but it also has some extremely powerful synergies.

Let me show you what I’m talking about…

Tuck and KillWhen you have Containment Priest in play and you partner it up with Proteus Staff not only do you get to tuck one of your opponent’s creatures but you also get to exile what they would normally put into play.

mistmeadow priestPartner up the Witch with the Priest and you get an excellent political tool at the table. You can protect your self and the other players who are in need. This not only lets you play the political game but you also can take control when the time comes.

scariest card in CMDR

Most of the time when you hear the words “Tooth and Nail Entwined” you know nothing good will come from it but if you flash in Containment Priest that is exactly what it means for your opponent, nothing good will come from it. Since they can’t put anything into play that wasn’t cast both of the chosen creatures will just be exiled.

Worried about your opponent going infinite with Deadeye Navigator? Don’t be! Flash in Priest when they cast Deadeye and you make it so they can’t navigate anywhere.

Going infinite Sharuum? Not today! Containment Priest forces your opponents to play a straight forward game and shuts down many of the combo strategies of the format.

Currently I’m using Containment Priest in my Bant Superfriends deck. Since the deck is centered around protecting my walkers she is a perfect fit. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t happy to draw her or have her in my opening hand. She is certainly a rockstar.
